The Young Members Chapter (YMC) is formed in 2010 by a group of young energetic professionals and aspiring students under the age of 35. Although the YMC mainly provides support to the HKWMA Executive Committee, their other duties also include promoting and supporting activities held by the HKWMA; help enforce the link with the young and student members of HKWMA; facilitate a platform for experience sharing; coordinates information, knowledge, training and support development in the area of waste management in Hong Kong.

Since its establishment, YMC has organized a broad range of activities including social activities such as squid fishing and technical visits to NENT Landfill, Chemical Waste Treatment Centre (CWTC), glass bottle recycling facility, Sludge Treatment Facility (STF), food composting facilities and incineration facilities in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Macau.

In addition to this, the YMC has also supported and help organise HKWMA events including coordination of the professional course on waste management, the Annual Two-Coast Four-Place Forums on Sustainable Sold Waste Management amongst China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, as well as various other seminars and forums.

Furthermore, the YMC is also instrumental in establishing a Student Chapter, where regular presentations were made to students to local educational institute and universities to introduce our waste and environmental profession, so the students can make more informed decisions for their career development.

Apart from the technical and professional side, the YMC is also very active in organizing various leisure and social events, including BBQ, squid fishing, soccer games, etc.

Although you have to be under the age of 35 to join the YMC, all HKWMA members are more than welcomed to join all events organized by our YMC!
